I was away at the weekend so only just caught up with watching Match of the Day from Saturday evening.

Watched the highlights of WBA v Liverpool and was staggered that I did not hear Gerrards name once during the extended highlights.

In fact at the end of the game I rewound back to the start of the game to see the "teams" to see if he was playing. I must admit Allen and Lucas were also not mentioned much either, WBA seemed to bypass the Liverpool midfield.

p.s. I am not a WBA or Liverpool fan, so just making an observation.

Gerrards star is on the wane now, age and too many injuries have caught up with him and he can't influence a game like he used to

Liverpool fans grasping at straws still see him as their 'saviour'
You're right joe, gerrard was class but he is past his best. One of liverpools problems is that since gerrard, fowler, owen, carragher they haven't been able to produce any top class homegrown talent. Why?

(p.s. spearing is not and will not be top class)
I think they need a clean sheet for Brendan, and by that I mean it is time to offload Gerard and Carragher.
doctorb - the problem does not only lie with Liverpool, but other monied clubs do the same. The first team squads are predominantly expensive overseas players. No room for the up and coming youngsters from academies.
Liverpool's squads in recently years:
2007-08 - 11 British, 25 others
2008-09 - 7 British, 28 others
2009-10 - 7 British, 21 others
2010-11 - 10 British, 17 others
2011-12 - 12 British, 14 others
2012-13 - 14 British, 16 others

PS: Boing, Boing
Good point Sir.prize.

I feel that with liverpool not being able to compete financially alonside the big boys anymore or having the transfer astuteness of wenger (i.e Carroll) it is a must that they create their own stars.

p.s you spelt it wrong again. boRing,boRing. :-)
BoRing maybe, doc . . . . but

Baggies 4th in the Premiership
Liverpool 18th just below Man United
is doctordb a dingle?
not sure piggy - but I'm waiting for mightywba and Hopkirk to come along then the four of us can have a word with doc
Well if the Doc reckons we're boring he can't be a doctor with a dodgy diagnosis like that.
I reckon he's a bitter and tw1-5ted dingle
:P
I'm with you Sir.Prize
Just a joke. To be fair this baggies team are good to watch, it's birmingham, villa and wolves that bore the hell out of me.

p.s i'm not a dingle.
Am I bovvered?

NO!
Sorry, answer should hae been in he Harry/nude poll
BlueToffee reminds me of an Everton match I went to once in the seventies.

It was an evening FA Cup match at the Hawthorns - a replay I think.

There were absolutely loads of us at Broad Street waiting for buses to the ground.

There was a line of buses loading as fast as possible. One of the buses was painted as a huge advert for Everton Mints, all black and white stripes.

Despite the crowd wanting to get to the ground, no one would get on that bus, and it had to drive away empty.
