I was Short-listed for an Internal job post but due to HR errors was never contacted to attend the interview do I have any rights to complain and ask for compensation?
I recently applied for a management post within my company several salary scales above my current post, the Job had was advertised externally. I was actually acting in up in the position when the post was advertised as it was a vacant position, so I applied for the job. But I was on leave for a period of time and on my return found out that I had been short-listed to attend the interview but due to HR not doing their Job properly I was never advised of the interview date so I obviously was not able to attend and they interviewed and the interviews were done and the Job offered to someone else another internal candidate without waiting to interview me. I have now complained to my managers that I have not been treated equally or fairly. but does anyone know if I have any right regarding this for compensation for the distress and potential loss of earnings I would have be earning considerably more. The Job cannot be reinterviewed I have been told so what can I do? Does anyone know of the legal standing? on this or know of any similar cases ?

You could raise a grievance but need to think about what you want to achieve from it and bear in mind that it may give the impression that you are a troublemaker . An alternative may just be to write and express your disappointme nt and stress that you really felt you would have been the ideal candidate and look forward to being considered for future...

id have to agree with prudie. if you had any chance theyd have seen you and given you the job.
the fact that you were already doing the job, yet they still didnt see fit to make it a permanent position, implies that they dont feel you are the right person for the job.
presumably if what you say is true, a time came and wrent that was supposed to be your slot - but nobody told you?
could they be fobbing you off? basically they didnt want to give you the job, but didnt want to hurt your feelings?
