low today

Feeling a bit low today - I live on my own with my little dog and sometimes the silence of the house can be quite loud and it can be difficult to get out off bed. Anybody out there on their own and how do you cope. Thanks - visited a friend in hospital yesterday so I am ashamed of feeling this way.

I was going to suggest something positive like a visit to an art gallery or museum, a local pub for a drink and perhaps lunch and sit at the bar as folk will always chat, even doing a little shop for Christmas and/or perhaps picking up a little treat for dinner, be it cheese, wine or dessert - or all three!

Sorry to hear you're feeling low. Please don't feel ashamed, there is absolutely no need.
I used to live on my own and although I had a busy job and saw people all day during the week, I got very lonely in the evening and at weekends. I do understand how you feel.
The good thing about AB is that there is almost always someone around to talk to, and I find the time flies once I start reading the threads. Sometimes I've laughed so much, I've cried. It's helped me a lot. I hope it does you too.

Hello. I do sympathise. I manage by always having the radio on during the day, usually tuned to the local station which for me is BBC Radio Lincolnshire. Over the years they have become almost friends. It's also useful for telling me if there's anything of interest on that I could go to. I know what you mean about friends having problems too, you feel like you're bothering them if you tell them how you feel. Have you got any charity shops near to you? I volunteer for the local hospice one, and we have a great time. I only go once a fortnight, but it helps. Some people actually go into the hospice to help in various ways but I'm too far away for that.
Hope this helps a bit, but don't be ashamed, we all get low times. Sending a hug.

Where abouts do you live? I have health problems ,. I am registered blind, have hereditary lung disease andsuffer with arthritis. I forget about that and do what i can to help otheres. I recently invited a group of ladies round to me house for tea and a fresh cream cake each, all free of course. They varied from lonely people, people with cancer and people who had recently lost husbands, as i did myself 5 years ago. They stayed for four hours! and they all seemed to go away a lot happier. I will definately be doing that again.
Could you invite any of your friends neighbours round for something similar? Lots of ladies enjoy tea and a chat. x
