Just joined a new gym, and im after a bit of advice, at the moment i am going swimming for 30 minutes, most mornings. but i want to add some cardio work. i am limited on time, so would i be better staying on one machine for 30min, or 2 for 15 or 3 for 10?
I know i can ask the gym staff, but i though i would ask the good people of AB first, as you haven't failed me yet! TIAx

3 x 10 would be better I think..
I would go for 30 minutes on the treadmill OR 15 minutes each on cross trainer and rowing machine.
I would suggest that 30 mins swimming daily is all that you need.

"cardio work?".....what's that?
Agree with Sqad. The swimming is all you need.
Sqad...anything that gets your heart rate going.

If you are going everyday then just do a different machine each day.
ummmm....sex? would that be in order?
Yep...it comes highly recommended. It burns loads of calories if you do it right ;-)

As always many thanks thanks for your answers, i do enjoy swimming, however the monthly fee is rather a lot just to make use of the pool. so want to vary my mornings up a little.
Unlike weight training , which is best if done is "sets" cardio workouts are best if the pulse is elevated to a pre-selected target and then held there for a pre-determined time preiod, both of which will be adjusted as fitness increases... Remember, the the gluteus maximus is the largest muscle in the human body and should be involved in all cardio workouts to achieve maximum heart rate with the least effort...
I sit on my gluteus maximus for most of the day. Does that constitute exercise?
Depends entirely on your technique, sandy...
Sometimes I just sit and think. And sometimes I just sit and stare vacantly into space. :-)
Improvement in technique required... I have a great personal trainer... but he's deffinitely "hands on"...
