Dozy Woman Has Reversed Into My Parked Car.

My car was parked outside my daughter's BF's bungalow and the sister of the woman in the next door bungalow reversed out of the sister's driveway and bumped into my parked car. We were inside talking and knew nothing about it but the neighbour next door but one was having a job done on his car by a local mechanic and the local mechanic watched the neighbours sister hit my car, pull up, get out of her car, look at the rear of her car, look towards my car, get back in and drive off,
A minute later we came out to go to tescos and the mechanic was just coming to the door to tell us about it. I went to the sister next door, who is in her 80s, and she took my phone number and said she would ring her sister when she got home.
My insurance comoany can't start a claim until I have the full details, I only know the drivers name.
Should I let it go because she's a pensioner and my car is only slightly bunped, the bumper is split and the headlight has been pushed in under the lip of the bonnet but it still works.

Id have been tempted to let it go if she'd done the decent thing an informed you herself, but the sneaky mare is trying to get away with it by the sounds of it.

Speak to her, hear what she has to say. Maybe she'd offer to pay for the damages, and that might work out. If she behaves mean and badly, report the incident.

trouble is she used to work with my daughter in the local chemists shop and her only daughter died of cancer 18 months ago and so i feel pretty bad about maybe having to persue her for the claim. still, i pay car insurance and i assume so does she,

NO WAY, could easily have been more serious, and she 'left the scene of an accident' with that attitude she needs to be reminded of her responsibilities, what if she'd backed into the mechanic instead?

I have to say I was quite surprised when I found out who she was, my daughter was with me and she was shocked too as this woman has always been really nice and pleasant and is well liked in the village,

Tell her you have witnesses that she knowingly left the scene of an accident and that the penalty for that can be 3 years in gaol sharing a cell with HIV infected drug addicts

... or perhaps you should get her insurance details first

Leaving the scene of an accident's likely to get her 6 points and a significant fine - if she's as old as her sister her insurance will go right up - she'll probably have to stop driving.

I guess it depends on whether you think she should be on the road or that the car is a lifeline to her

the witness lives further up the street apparently, which I've just been told, so he's handy.

What gets on my tits is she hurried away from the accident as fast as she could, and she knew the family (your daughter). She doesn't deserve to be let off easily. She is trying to get over...
