Hotpoint Wmf740 Aquarius Washing Machine 'door' Flashing On Display Driving Me Nuts

I have a wmf740 and during a cycle it will flash 'door' on the display.
If the power is cycled the error clears and the cycle can be completed, usually it has 1 or 2 minutes to go.
I have reseated all the electrical connectors and checked the door latch but this has made no difference.
Anybody know what this fault might be ? I'm going to go mad if i have to reset the machine again...

I have taken the door interlock apart, emery papered the contact and given it a spray of contact cleaner, oiled the solenoid and silicone greased the moving plastic parts. So far so good.

Always pull the plug from the wall socket before taking panels off....
