The Co-Op

What do you think of the co-op? In my town they have taken over the post office, the dry cleaners, the chemist and the travel agent. We have been trying to get another supermarket in town for years, everytime we get near they appeal. Asda had planing permission, the coop appealed. They won so started again.we have a department store Beales who rent a property from the coop, they have not renewed their lease so they have to go. They were the best store in town. We have about twelve cafes, takeaways,Indians, Chinese and the rest. Four charity shops, six hairdressers , in a town of 7000. What hope have we against the coop?

Do you have to be against the Co-op? Why not ask the manager for improvements? If they don't happen within a few months contact the head office telling them about your requests for improvements and ask why they haven't they haven't happened.

LOL @ B00, In our village the Co-Op is expensive compared to Tesco's etc, but you have to travel a few miles to them, so the Co-Op charge for convenience imo.

Our local Co-op is well known for the fact that all it's Staff appear to be on the Care in the Community programme, not saying it's the same everywhere, but this lot are bad!

Co-op's are local. They are used by people that don't have cars. They take advantage of that.

Our Co-op's not expensive, but it's very small, and they only own the one small store in our town.

Despite working there, I will readily admit that the majority of Coop's stuff is eye wateringly expensive, however, it's worth checking out the offers, sometimes they're very competitive with Tesco, Asda etc.

Agree with Boo as our son works at a Co-op and, is anything BUT a candidate for Care in the Community!

Their offers are good.

So are their own brand products.

Foor years the Co-op was the only supermarket we had, until Sainsburys opened last year.
I find the Co-op very expensive and their fruit and veg is rubbish. I recently complained about one of their special offers - I can't remember the exact details but it was something like buy one item for 33p or buy it on special offer at 3 for £1.20.
My daughter works part time for them and they have cut staff levels to the bone. The few staff they have left (many defected to Sainsburys) are worked like dogs

That being said, I bought a reduced lemon drizzle cake for 27p t'other night, it was delicious- it's now gone.

My friend used to work at our local one. She'd agree that they are worked like dogs.
