I am looking at moving to London/Middlesex, ready to start my job based at Heathrow Airport. I have found a nice property in Harrow and want to know if anyone knows/does a daily commute from around the Harrow area to Heathrow. I need to know what the traffic is like as someone said commuting from Wembley to Heathrow is a nightmare, even though it's not that far! I know London traffic is pretty notorious anyway but if it's generally not that bad then I'd be happy! Hope someone can help!
Thanks

And what time would you be commuting?

Well to start with i'll be needing to get to Heathrow for about half 8. The job is cabin crew so after the 6 week training, I could be leaving any time!!
Very difficult to answer then. I would imagine your training period will be pretty bad. I.e. peak rush hour.
anywhere round Heathrow has been pretty nightmarish at rush hour whenever I've tried to get to or from, though no doubt there are good days. You might be best living near a tube station, the trains are frequent and some day you'll have Crossrail.

Yeah, i'm aware that after training you can't really say. It's for the actual training that i'm worried about. I know it's peak time but just wanted to know if it was any worse than usual rush hour traffic

Thank you for your help jno.

And thank you excelsior-1 - very kind of you!
This timetable shows it takes an hour and a quarter from Harrow Weald bus garage to Heathrow Airport central bus station. One departs at 0650 and arrives at 0803. Though what they say and what actually happens might be very different. Good luck with the new job.

Either underground from South Harrow piccadilly line to Acton Town, change to Heathrow.
Bus 140 from Harrow Bus Station to Heathrow.

Both take about an hour.

Having driven it from Northolt (quite nearby) that took over an hour. Also have you got guaranteed parking when you get to Heathrow. Otherwise should think it would be quite an expense on top of fuel.

Thank you sandyRoe - that was my next thing to do was look at a bus timetable! It's quite a long time but then I suppose it always is on a bus route.

ubasses - Luckily I have got allocated parking at the training centre (at the East end of Heathrow). I think judging from all the info i've got, it's going to take me about an hour by car. Thank you for your help
If I were to commute I probably stay away from rush hour because of traffic. I'll travel before or after that hours so do so if you can. Godbless in your new career.
