Anyone remember what they were doing 60 years ago today?

I was sitting in a classroom with a coronation mug full of sweets watching a massive television with a tiny screen as a snotty 8 year old!

And I was 3, Tony...remember it so well, BT......party in the local school and the little boy next to me took the fondant fancy I had had my eye on as the plate was passed around the table. I cried but he still ate it. I never forgave him and got my own back years later when he asked me for a date....as if!! I wanted that fondant fancy... :-( x

60 years ago today..... I don't remember the actual day, we didn't havea TV, but I remember my parents taking me on a London bus to see the lights festooned all the way up and down the Thames.

You didn't miss anything tony, I was more interested in the contents of my mug than the ceremony, as any 8 year old would be!
Of course BT, if I had have been around then I'm sure I'd have found the sweeties much more interesting.
no!!!!!
Boxy, I always thought of you as being in your early to mid 50's.
My mate was 8 as well. He got a mug and, wait for it, a Knife. Lol, how times change.
Tigger, you are very kind. Mentally I probably am.....

That's called "holding a grudge", gness :-)
We must have had the day off school as I can remember watching it with mum and dad on a tiny screen as we had a TV and the neighbours were there too as they hadn't got one. Coronation mug as well that came from school.
It is, Boxy...and if I see him around town I point him out to anyone who will listen as the thieving little fondant fancy snaffler! x
gness, I thought you were going to say you got your own back by marrying him. :o)
I bet you can't say that when you've had a drink, gness!
Is that Vulcan I see running for the hills? Was funny though! :-) x
Not without spitting lots, Tilly...x
Bet she could Yilly, think the words may be in a different order though !.
Seeing as I can remember the coronation I'll not be running, a gentle stroll to the hills perhaps.
