Fax Off

This is apparently a true story - but it could as easily be an urban myth:
A temporary secretary was once employed to carry out the customary duties for the boss. The woman was not very experienced, and not terribly well up with modern technology, but she was otherwise very good.
At one point, the boss asked her to send a fax, and handed her the draft. She immediately went to the fax machine, put the document in it, and dialled the number.
After a few seconds, she opened the machine, and went 'Oh no...', took it out, and went through the process again.
The same thing happened a few seconds later, and once again, she said 'Oh dear...', and started again.
After the third attempt, and with the same result, she got a bit flustered, and the boss said 'What's the matter?'
And the secretary said 'It's still here'.
