The first bird has started singing. Must be a youngster, trying to establish himself early. The old ones know they are boss and can't be arsed to be out -singing him yet.

What does the day hold for you? I have a meeting at Newmarket this afternoon, second day of three. Saved money yesterday because I thought yesterday was the tenth, so missed the first day (and a book auction, same reason,which saved a few quid, too). No Timeform yet, so I can't give losing tips, nor know that a filly is a third foal out of an unraced dam but her half sister was a winner on soft ground at Chantilly over a mile.This is the kind of stuff that we racing people need, and usually makes us the subject of gifts from bookmakers after a season of being confused by it! (And , by the way, nobody in racing gives tips. They can't know for certain, even if they own it. Why should some bloke with a copy of the Sun know better?)

good morning fredp. hope you are well. you certainly sound chipper, as grandad used to say.

Fine, thanks, m'lady. My grandmother used to say "chipper". She was from Hertfordshire, but I am not sure it's exclusively southern. She would say "parney" for "rain" too, but that's an Indian word for water;it must have come back with soldiers, but I haven't heard it in years.
must admit i've not heard that one. grandjam served in SA so maybe he used different words
Morning all .This is the day a committee set up by me reports back on should I get a pay rise or not if they "rule " in my favour should I take it ,Decisions decisions ..
Morning all! xxx for LJ :~}

Fred, the ~Indian word for water is pawni, but it's been changed into many things over the years. It did indeed come back with soldiers, along with bungalow, shampoo and many other words that are now in common use.

Just thought I'd share that with you! :~}
good morning boaty and wee
How are you this morning LJ? :o}
fine thanks boaty. bit difficult to sleep again last night.
Not good is it. I know it well. There is nothing to be done about it. I lie in bed and think about lovely places we've been and lovely people we've met. At least that is relaxing. Not as good as sleep, but better than getting annoyed about it.
that is so nice boaty. you sound such a lovely person. i find lack of breeze difficult to deal with and even with both windows (one east and one west) open there is not enough air. arm aching a bit in the heat
I try to be LJ :o}

There is no air movement at all. Not a leaf or flower moving. I can understand the problem for you. At least my back and shoulder like this weather. So does the rest of me actually! It can be like this all year round for me! :o}
Morning all, looks like being another scorchio. Hang about - there's someone else in the building. Which stupid sod would come in this early? Have they not got as bed to sleep in?
Morning Welshie. How very dare they invade your space! Shock horror!
it's probably the cleaners or someone keen to join your fan club welshy.
Just spoken to him - on his way to a site meeting in Aylesbury at 10 - better get a move on, buddy.... it's about 250 miles away.......
glad to know you like it boaty. carry on enjoying it.
He'll be lucky!
I will LJ. I will. I love it! :o}
Fan club, LJ? - If they want to join that they need to register at the local mental health unit first!!
