Happened to me here in the 80's, we were walking along the beach side before it was developed and a huge yellow fire plane swooped right in low to land in the sea to get water, I literally fell to my knees, and yes the noise was horrendous, Mr Netibiza being a stalwart stood there with ne'er a tremble!!

I remember when Air France tried to do that with an A320 at Basel. The aircraft was nicknamed The Strimmer afterwards.
