Beware Of Directory Enquiries 118118
7 Answers
I just had a chat with o2 about an unexpected ten pounds on my mobile phone bill. It was thanks to calling 118118. They charge apparently 3 pounds a minute. If you ask them to put you through to the number you want the charge continues for however long you are on that call as well. I also rang 118434 (with that stupid ad in my head 118434 why pay more) and guess what. They also charge 3 pounds a minute!
I asked o2 if any of the providers are cheaper. He said 118402 is 1.50 a minute. Best is internet search for number if you have an iphone.
Just thought I would put this out as a warning to anyone who doesnt know the very high charge you are paying for directory enquiries.

But a combination of misuse by some and a fanatisism for privatising and charging for everything one could get away with, ensured service for goodwill was replaced by pay or you don't get.
