We are off on our hols soon - unfortunately, I have to work in Leeds on one of the days we are meant to be away. So I thought I would organise for Mr BM and Mini Mr BM to go to an adventure theme park for the day so I can go off and do my job and not worry about them. I've found one "Go Ape", not sure that is right for Mini Mr BM. Are there any Alton Towers type places in Yorkshire and can anyone personally recommend a child friendly *NICE* hotel?

We've "done" York so that's out - any suggestions for somewhere Dad and son can have a fun filled hair raising day whilst I am slogging my guts out?

oh bugger, not sure how I managed to post this in CB. sorry Ed, I SHOULD have put it in Travel!!!
Flamingo Land and Lightwater Valley?
This is quite close to Leeds. The ones that Factor mentions are both a fair way from Leeds but good if they don't mind the travel
Question Author
Thank you!! Lightwater Valley, Flamingo Land and Xscape all look like distinct possibilities.

Shoota, thank you, but Mini Mr BM wont like the noise. Plus I'm not sure I want either of them near a gun.
Question Author
(I'm not sure he would be allowed a real gun either because he has learning disabilities and wont necessarily understand the instructions).
(Apologies - I'm something of a country sports evangelist!)

Diggerland looks fun!

I wouldn't get them fly fishing, Shoota, but I fancy that (I'm the fisherwoman in this house - no-one say "fishwife"). I could do my job and then go and have some quiet time!
Question Author
Dont apologise, Shoota, if it were down to me, I'd go shooting and fishing. I'd never get Mini Mr BM doing anything like that though. Not in a million years. Bless, he cant/wont even ride a bike!
My daughter bought me a falconry day for my birthday this year. It's @ Skipton, so not very far from Leeds. I can get details if you're interested.

Thank you Carrust, but Mini Mr BM is scared witless of all animals apart from cats (my chickens are included in this). I've as much chance of getting him near a Harris Hawk as I have of being able to command the tides.

It's something I would LOVE to do though.

So we've established, that I need to spend a week in Yorkshire to do all the things I like, but actually I'm the one who has to GO TO BLINKIN WORK!!!!
I'm going @ the end of this month, I'll keep you posted.

Sloopy, Camp Hill looks great - he's just been on an adventure holiday and the sort of things he did are the same as Camp Hill. That might be precisely the right thing!
Question Author
It should be fabulous, Carrust. When I am rich and have 20 acres to muck around on, I am jolly well having a Harris Hawk.
Lightwater Valley is a smaller, more friendly place than Flamingo Land. Lightwater Valley has 'child friendly' rides -ones that don't make you or your child wet themselves, and also a few more scarier ones for older children. Lightwater Valley is only around 30 mins drive at most from leeds, accessed straight off the A1M. Diggerland is good but you wait ages for a go on things and it will be packed at this time of the year.
