Dinner Lady...the Other Side Of The Story

Remember earlier this week, when we discussed the sacking of the dinner lady who served the Muslim kid gammon and was subsequently sack?

Some of us commented that the story (as reported by the Daily Mail), seemed 'wrong'.

Does this now change anyone's opinion one the story?

someone already did that, posted the other side of the story, same article looks like. Wait and see if Ms Waldock takes the matter forward, not only that does it actually say whether it was them who reported the matter, because there seems some confusion over that.

Well - several people thought that there must be more the original story than met the eye - perhaps there is, after all.

Missed the earlier post (was away on me jollies) but I did read about this in the news at the time and I fail to see what the kerfuffle's about.

Just because she served the child a piece of gammon, it doesn't mean the child has to eat it does it? I mean she wasn't force fed the damn thing.

I personally don't care whether it was accidental or on purpose (to what end?) that it got dolloped on the child's plate, it's all really silly and hardly news worthy (IMO)

Actually it says the kid was on packed butties- why was it offered to her in the first place then?

The child said she wanted it, B00, she's seven. It was a member of staff who whipped it off her plate.

so if the parents say the child was on packed lunches that day, the claim that the child was given gammon is either
1) not true as she was on school dinners
2) true and it was another child that was given the gammon
3) all lies and never happened

or any combination of the above

Perhaps i should go back and read the original post about it, but it still doesn't explain why she was given a school dinner if she was on sandwiches? Surely just because she wanted it, that shouldn't mean she should get it? Especially when it's not been paid for?

Am I missing something?

It was obvious that part of the story had been omitted. The company has always maintained that they do not sack for a single first offence. The parents claim they never asked for the dinner lady to be sacked, so it will be interesting how this fares with the PCC.

There are obviously 2 sides to the story but what I don't understand - perhaps I haven't read the article fully - is that the mother said " she was on packed lunch that day. It simply couldn't have happened [as the dinner lady said it did]." I understood from the previous article that the headteacher 'swept away' the plate.

The head teacher is to be commended for her quick thinking action in whipping the gammon from the plate. She knows how to protect her pupils, perverts will also think twice before trying anything at that school.

Kosmos, a child of 7 may know not to eat Halal but can't possibly be expected all the varieties of pig meat. All the meat and poultry served at that school is Halal, except pork products. If she was asked 'do you want gammon' would she know it was pig?

It's an analogy B00, if she can spot a small piece of gammon, then she'll be able to spot a pervert a mile away. She obviously knows what to look for.

I Know a dinner lady, and her British kids are all fed halal meat so as not to upset the Muslims.
Do the British families know?
Would you want to know what your kids were being fed?

The uni's are full of intelligent Muslims, she would know what a pig was from the age of 7.

I'd be more concerned about any school serving halal due to the method of dispatching the animal concerned. If I had children I wouldn't want them to have it Perhaps there is a case for all school meals to be vegetarian

I agree rowan, but the kid could have a nut allergy. "Teacher whips nut from plate" would be the next headline.
