Whilst out shopping last week, walked by one of those open fronted shops and did a double take back to see if my eyes were not deceiving me 'Christmas Cards' on sale and a huge display, what the f...k.

I went into local card shop yesterday and was astounded to find quite a large amount of space allocated to Christmas Cards. Ridiculous.

It is ridiculous, Canary42, they make so much space for Christmas Cards that they seem to downsize space for birthday cards. What was even sadder, there was people actually buying them.

Seems senseless for a small shop. Harrods open their Christmas section by the end of August, but they get a lot of foreign tourists who may want to buy stuff they can't get at home and also Harrods take orders for printed, personal cards which take time to get out.

Well, they can't expect to make any money out of me just yet. We're supposed to be having some more summer next week. Christmas will be the last thing on my mind

Last week I received through the post two Christmas catalogues from animal charities!

If you have relatives living the other side of the world and you want to post their christmas cards by the cheapest method, i.e. by sea, then you will need to get them in the post by September. Also, if you have a relative serving with the forces abroard and you know they will be away on a tour of duty at christmas, you may just want to give them their cards before they leave for them to open chritsmas day. It's totally acceptable, we don't all hand deliver cards on christmas eve

Oh, but good point about posting early, dot. My Australian cousins usually get their Christmas cards from me late January. Must try to be a bit more on the ball this year
