I have just returned from a very pleasurable trip to America. My amiable host thought I would enjoy a day out at a famous golf tournament. I enjoyed the experience but why oh why do American golf spectators feel the need to yell and shout after every shot and the perhaps the most puerile of all, their insistence of shouting "get in the hole" after almost every putt even when it sometimes so obvious that the ball is avoiding the its target by some large margin? It not only completely spoiled the day but embarrassed my friend so much he had to apologise.

It's up there with attention seeking tennis fans shouting 'come on andy'(etc) when the general applause has stopped and fallen silent.

I know what you mean, I was watching some tournament once where this idiot felt the need to shout "it's birdie time" every time there was a drive from the tee, completely ruining my viewing.

Obvious really! It's because a lot of American golf fans are just thick!
