IDS, walked out of a debate on poverty while Tory MPs were laughing and jeering about poor people using food banks and end of day left overs at supermarkets,He and they showed complete contempt for less well off families,Total disgrace.
Every picture tells a story eh .Would not say they were laughing at the contents of the debate but looked a good story. Only thing you can be really sure of printed on the paper is the price.
Maybe IDS went to the toilet. This is from the Mirror, so not exactly unbiased reporting. The video is only 9 seconds long. Did anyone hear the discussion before that because I don't know what induced the jeering. Any other links to this story?
Another link to the Mirror. It should be remembered that the Trussell Trust opened its first food bank in the UK a long time ago, not under a Tory government, but in 2004 under a Labour government. Perhaps things weren't entirely rosy then either, eh?
I don't think the issue is as much that of foodbanks Naomi as it is of the behaviour of some of the Tory backbenchers who seem to be modelling them selves on Rick Mayal's New statesman character
According to their own website, the Trussell Trust opened their first food bank in a garden shed and garage in Salisbury in 2000. Since 2004 they have opened 380 and in 2012/13 gave food to over 360,000 people, 127,000 of which were children.
Whether you believe the story in the mirror about the Tories laughing and sneering the fact that so many of the main players chose to leave the debate after just an hour is, imho, totally disgusting.
Naomi, IDS and the rest of his party have done all they can to avoid this debate. It only came about because an on line petition raised the necessary numbers for it to be heard. He didn't even have the guts to speak, instead leaving it to Esther McVey.
