Has anyone flown round the world?
Would like to travel with Virgin, BA and/or Singapore Airlines if possible.
Other than Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sydney and Perth, am easy going about where else to stop off. Open to suggestions.
What sort of price are we talking, how long would be reasonable if spending 3 -4 days each place and what websites are best at organising this trip?

If you are going to be doing several flights and doing it independently it might be better sticking to one airline alliance such as One World or the Star Alliance. Trailfinders are good for booking trips.
BTW you need to decide which way you are going to go - via the east or the west. That would be determined by the time of year that you go. I would probably go via the east. As far as stopping off is concerned, it depends how many stopovers you want. For example, I wouldn`t bother doing both San Fran and LA (you won`t be missing much if you avoid LA) so you could save yourself and do NY instead. It depends what you want to see, how much of a budget and time you have.
are those places you do want to see or don't?
be careful if considering use of any agency in the US - a friend booked a trip via an agency in seattle and because they are 8 hours behind the UK, they "wired" the cash for the 1st flight (from LHR to SEA) after the flight had left, resulting in my friend being rather publicly "escorted" from the plane.

Thanks to all.
I would recommend travelling through the US first, as I think you get a better luggage allowance. As for places to visit, don't forget beautiful New Zealand! I moved here last year and it's amazing.
I'm told you're not having such a great summer, T&S? I was there a year ago and it was wonderful.

I think Air NZ can get you round the world in conjunction with Singapore Airlines. They dropped their Bangkok route but you can still go via Shanghai as well as via LA. Air NZ are terrific at long-haul travel, since that's most of their business.
Still waiting for the summer Jno!
We've been fortunate enough to do a couple of round the world trips.

Would definitely recommend Japan, but you would need more than 3/4 days there, and Oz and NZ have to be on the list too.

Going east and returning via the States is a weird sensation. We left Auckland at 3pm one day, arrived at LA 6am the same day, 9 hours before we left, and that after a 12 hour flight!

As suggested, Trailfinders is a good place to start, we bought a round the world ticket, flying with Qantas and BA, and it allowed us several, sorry can't remember exactly how many, stop overs.

Enjoy!
We went a few years back, we went, Man UK>>Heathrow>>Singapore>>Sydney>>Brisbane>>Hawaii>>L.A.>>London>>Man, We have been with B.A, A.A. Malaysia. China A.W. Singapore A.L. all very good, I don't rate A.A. very good. you need at least 4 days if you can afford.
