55 Word, Short Stories.

I don't know if this type of thing has been posted on here before but I have a copy of a page from the Daily Mail, Tuesday, 14th. July 1998.

I kept it because it has examples of 55 word short stories. I love them.

Here's an example of one.


"Careful, honey, it's loaded," he said, re-entering the bedroom.
Her back rested against the headboard. "This for your wife?"
"No. Too chancy. I'm hiring a professional."
"How about me?"
He smirked. "Cute. But who'd be dumb enough to hire a female hit man?"
She wet her lips, sighting along the barrel. "Your wife."

No I didn't count the words, I took your word for it that there are 55 words.

I remember when there used to be loads of comps for short tories in very few words. I always enjoyed them.
