Dont get me wrong, they have a disaster and it is terrible, but to give our sandbags away from an area that will undoubtedly flood again, isn't that a little daft?

BTW, does anyone know how many countries helped Somerset out when they had a problem?

Apparently about 1 million people are affected by this flood, so it would seem that they need help desperately. As regards our own need, we are an island and therefore surrounded mostly by sand, so I would have thought we shouldn't have any difficulty in getting some more if we need it in the future. If we had problems with a scarcity of sand a few months ago, that was probably caused by a lack of organisation, rather than any lack of sand.
Novak Djokovic gave his winnings from the Italian Open to the disaster relief fund.
Bar the royal Prince's helping out, did any of our stars/sportsmen give anything to our flood relief effort?
Serious question BTW.
....Somerset didn't really need any help from any other countries, did they?
it must cost more to transport a sandbag than make a new one. something fishy going on, me thinks.
Didn't Somerset borrow some super big pumps from Holland ?

Shouldn't we all be able to help each other out when disasters strike ? I was talking to an elderly ex-NUM official in Aberfan last year, and he told me that the Disaster Fund had money coming in all over the world. He remembered opening an airmail letter from Canada, just addressed to the "Miners, Aberfan" and it had $100 dollars Canadian in it, and he didn't know what to do with this cash !
Now you must know by now that if any country bar the UK needs help, the Mother country is always there to lend a hand, money and resources no object, I suppose accommodation is already organised in case any of these flood victims need housing.
Oh dear aog...you really have got of bed the wrong side today !
