My friend is a bit gutted that his wedding was organised for the 14 June - England's first match. He will miss the match. Trust me, he WILL miss the match.

Whaddya think my chances are of getting a card out of them? And where do I write?

Well in September 2003, my lad was getting married on the same day Ricky Hatton had a big fight against Aldo Rios. Knowing my son was a massive fan of Hatton (even their cat was called Hatton), I contacted Frank Warren, the promoter's office, never really expecting a reply. I was in work when the phone rang and it was somebody from Frank Warren.TV who gave me a...

'He will miss the match' ... do you mean the wedding or the football?

He is going to miss the footie! He did suggest a tv in the marquee which was vetoed by the bride and she was supported by the chief bridesmaid (me).
You could write or E-Mail the English FA, Barmaid, and explain your problem.
England's first Game is in Manaus, many miles up the Amazon !
I recall attending a wedding when England played Scotland in the European Championships and the bride made a similar choice.
It was embarrassing because roughly 50% of the guests left the reception to attend a pub over the road and they spent most of the afternoon trying to drag people back into the reception for the speeches.
I would revise the plans if I were you because come the day, guests will find some way of watching it!
unless the 'boys' are tied to their chair, they will find a way /place to watch the game.
To bloody right.
The match is scheduled to start @ 11:00pm
Yes, i would be worried about not only if people will turn up, but whether those that do, would really rather be somewhere else. I would rethink the screen in the marquee personally. How long is the party for?
11pm..................perfect, everyone happy.
No, anne.
11pm? That shouldn't be too disruptive.
Oh all right then.
well there will be a 3 hour build up before kick off.
Ohhhh, 3 hours boozing time to get behind the lads.
Watching footie, 11pm to 2am on his wedding night? ermmmmmmm
Lol! Men saying no, women yes :-)
I wouldn't go for all the build-up before match and after. To me, it would be important the groom, guests etc were happy too. Depending what time the wedding is- food, drinking, dancing after, finishing with those that want to watch it, can. Everyone else can carry on.
They think it's all over, it is now !

Well given it starts at 11pm, no worries. We are in the a*** end of nowhere and I might, just *might* relent and provide my portable TV and portable aerial for the *** heads to watch the match whilst me and the bride continue eating cake and raiding the bar.

(Sir Prize, he has 2 kids, I doubt there will be any of that. Anyway, with what me and the best man have planned for their room, probably best......)
'He is going to miss the footie! He did suggest a tv in the marquee which was vetoed by the bride'

Obviously a man who doesn't wear the trousers
Joeluke- we're not in the Dark Ages now. A little compromise on both sides...
