Interesting to see there were no arrests, I wonder if it would have been the same if the demonstration had been an EDL one?

true enough, but the effect of any impedance to London traffic - even a short duration lane closure - radiates out in all directions very quickly. it's very credible that this short duration march paralysed London for hours afterwards.

Why EDL supporters are so fundamentally incapable of peaceful protest is beyond me.

Perhaps in a former life some EDL members were football hooligans? Perhaps with greater security inside football stadiums, these young men need a different outlet for their aggression?

But it's true what you say - had if been an EDL march, there would have been arrests, but that might be because they bring weapons to their 'peaceful' protests.

I understand that when planning a march, the EDL meet in pubs.

Alcohol and testosterone are not a good mix at the best of times. No wonder so many EDL members end up with criminal records (those that don't already have ones, that is).

But what we don't know is whether there were police there at that point. If they were told to get off the bus, and refused, then they absolutely should be arrested - possibly under the Public Order Act.

However, bringing offensive weapons to a protest march is way more serious. Something. That simply cannot be tolerated. This is possibly why so many EDL members end up being arrested.
