Care Home Contribution

Hello,
don't know if this the correct place for this question, but hope someone can put us straight. Mum has senile dementure, and has now been assessed and will be going into a care home. she has been there on a temporary basis for five weeks, and we have been paying £133 odd per week towards her care. she has a gov pension and a small private pension, the total amounts to about £1200 per month. she has no money as such, and does not own a home etc. Am i right in thinking the government take all of her income towards the cost of the home? Just like to add, she is 93, been healthy all her life, but the mind is faltering badly, and it happened quickly.
thanks,
Annie.

Most people with dementia only need care and help with day to day living and do not qualify for the nursing allowance or full funding under continuing care, but the questions should always be asked, especially if she has any other medical problems that prevent her living independently.
