He could name anyone, captaincy is no substitute for skill which England are so far behind than ever in World Cup terms.

I think this just goes to show what level English football has sunk to. The honour of being captain of England used to be the pinnacle of ones football career.

We can all be so proud! It kind of represents the Chav nation we have become. England are now an international joke anyway, so it fits quite well.

All this critisism of Rooney is very well and good but who else of any experience who is guaranteed a place is he left with.The problem is Hodgson and Capello and others have tried to evolve a plan to fit around the players they chose rather than evolve a plan and then pick the players to make it work.All these meaningless friendlies with Luxembourg and the Scilly isles and whoever just to give players an England cap are ridiculous as this is where he should be formulating his plan.I remember Jack Charlton enquiring of Alf Ramsey as to why he had picked him to play against Scotland in 1965 when in Jack's opinion better players were available to which Alf Ramsey replied I have the plan and I pick the players most able to make it work.If I remember correctly he enjoyed some success with it.Perhaps someone should mention this to Woy.

I was, in fact still am Proud to be English, however for as long as Shrek retains the English Captaincy I feel I must revert to simply being British!
