Does This Boy Like Me?

This boy, who apparently told my friend is not interested in me keeps giving me these little hints of affection. Sometimes he’s nice, then he teases me. He smiles at me most of the time and stares at me A LOT. We were in a group together a couple times and he acts nervous when I am beside him. But if I am across from him and his friend is beside him, he has no trouble at all with talking. He keeps giving me mixed signals and its just confusing me. Once he also smiled widely at me when I was laughing a a friend’s joke. Although, there’s this other girl who is rumoured to be liked by my crush. Once I accidentally overheard him and his friend talking and his friend’s exact words to him were, “Do you still like (My crushes’s rumoured crush’s name)?” Unfortunately I kinda panicked and didn’t hear his answer. There was also this other time when I was working with my crush and his friend on math and he was pretty close… Then a strand of my hair landed on his friend awkwardly. Luckily we are friends so he made a small tease about it. Later my crush kinda embarrassed his friend by saying he thought the student teacher was pretty. Also we were partnered to do tasks together and when we were walking up and down the halls, it was an awkward silence. He even tried to break the ice by doing some small talk, I tried to giggle a little at his jokes. Eventually, he somehow found out about my crush about him a few months later. But he continued to show those little signs of affection. He even stares at me all the way across the room. Even in the gym. Anyway I’m just a little confused on this situation on if he likes me or not. And be honest from a guy’s perspective.

Yep, he likes you but the fear of rejection makes him act like he's not bothered sometimes, so up that he has a way out if you were to reject him. Oh to be 14 again.

Thanks for the answers guys. I'm not sure if this will change your opinions, but I am a preteen, not a teenager. I know guys mostly judge you by your looks first before getting to know you, but there's something that has been bothering me. This girl who is like the prettiest girl in my grade who asked my crush out which was a while back before I even liked him. But he rejected him even though she is pretty. I'm not very pretty but if he does like me, why would he like someone like me when there are other pretty girls. Or does he like me for my personality and shyness? (Yes I am shy.) He and his friend also kept teasing me about me liking him before.

Looks are simply one part of what makes a person more or less attractive, and tastes differ between people anyway; plus who is to say you are not being unduly hard on yourself when you criticise your own looks ? I don't think it helps to ask why someone likes you, just be glad when it happens.
