Ikea Vat

just been to ikea, called in at the restaurant got two meals ,paid for both and thought a little odd it was more than i have added it up to while waiting to pay ,then notice 20% vat added £2.35 ? this is illegal as far as i can see as all meals in an eating establishment must display their prices + vat. non of the meals on display in ikea had any sign with vat added or a sign saying + vat
i'm contacting ikea about this, ive checked on google and its where i found out not legal

I would expect to see the amount of VAT charged on the receipt but I would expect the menu to show the price inclusive of VAT.

Could you tell us exactly what is on the receipt. The items, the price for each and the total.

If 2 people eat at Ikea for £14.10 ... you must have eaten the whole menu !

I'm sure when you complain you will get a credit ... sadly only enough to get a breakfast for one ... or go for the kids breakfast and you can both eat for free..!

vat was £2.35 lol

fish and chips £4.75 x 2
tea 95p x2
blueberry cheese cake £1.75 x 1
rosehip pannacotta 95 x1
total £11.75+20% vat = £14.10

I don't see your problem,all those prices do add up to £14.10 so the VAT was included on the individual shown prices?

You paid the advertised price inc of VAT.

Your receipt has expressed the value of the items that are VAT rated.

thats what i should have paid. as that's the prices shown not to add 1.24 vat on my bill after the sub total. the prices shown on the display overhead each meal SHOULD INCLUDE vat

Th advertised prices add up to £7.45.
Your bill shows the price before VAT then VAT is added on.
