Vive la difference. We simply are Not party to the Schenglen treaty. If they are fleeing worn torn countries then they have arrived at their solution and can apply for asylum in France or whatever other country before France is deemed a safe haven. Tonight I will be watching a plea for aid for these ancient cultures to assist them in their quest to find water. If ,after all these years, they can't still find water in their own county how did they find their way to France? France has to send them back and tighten their border controls. These people are NOT entitled to free movement in the EEC so are illegal and should be dealt with accordingly. As for the UK. One answer to the issue of migrants from E Africa is for us to do more to help make these countries more bearable for their citizens to live in. When you see what life is like for people in Eritrea for example it's hardly surprising they want to risk their lives to escape. The answer is NOT to penalise lorry drivers, making them scared to stop for a rest and thereby endangering their own and other road users lives.

"Perhaps you would be in favour of Colonising them, then perhaps we could make sure everything was run properly? "
Being a practical sort of person I'm interested in a solution that might actually work. You'll never stop desperate people unless you begin to address the reasons for their desperation.
