Because....

The man had been sitting outside a library and had seen the chicken emerge with a book tucked under its wing, cross the road and walk to a pond in the park opposite.
His curiosity got the better of him so he followed.
Arriving at the pond he saw the chicken offer the book to a frog and say "Book, book, book"
To which the frog replied "reddit, reddit".
