An interesting observation made by Ann Widdecombe in today's Express below:

A Muslim multi-millionaire has bought a London hotel and restaurant and promptly taken pork and alcohol off the menu. He is reported to have decided to run the enterprise in accordance with sharia law. Well, I shan’t be queueing up for a meal but it’s fine with me if a businessman wants to cater for a specific clientele. It’s called freedom of conscience and the risk is all his.

However I shall watch with interest to see whether gay couples will now be trying to book double rooms. Or is it only Christians whom the militant end of the homosexual lobby target?

I won't hold my breath because they wouldn't dare.

There was an article the other day where the new owner of the hotel said he would accommodate homosexual guests. I think it may have been a Daily Mail article.

I agree it is their business and need not provide non sharia options, but it seems to me a little hard on guests if they book assuming normality and then find they are offered what most would consider a poor set of options. There should be some moral duty to, when someone requests a booking, advise them on the shortcomings.

Personally, I can't imagine what would possess anyone to stay in a place where the owners don't like you.

If you stay in a hotel, you want to be looked after.

Will you get best looked after who dislike you, and who are being forced by the law to let you stay there? Of course not.

The only reasons to stay somewhere like that are:

(1) there's absolutely nowhere else to stay, or

(2) to make a point. Hence ... militant.

Islam is not against homosexuals or homosexuality as long as it is private and is behind closed doors. Yes, it is considered a sin in Islam and all of the other religions but it is a personal matter as long as it is kept personal.
