Black Friday Crowd Control Should The Police Be Responsible

I read this morning that Police have been called to 7 Tesco Stores due to crowd disturbances ,customers fighting each other like animals for a Television ,should the Taxpayer pick up the bill for something that Supermarkets have created themselves for profit .If this was a sporting event then the organisers have to pay for a Police presence in the case of my local Football Club this is paid for by way of putting matches into Categories so the matches with the biggest crowd carry a surcharge to pay for the Police .

May be the stores could run stricter policies? Let 100 in at a time to a cordoned off section of the store and a maximum of say 3 items per customer?

Now I have found out what "Black Friday" means in this context. There was me thinking the Tottenham riots had broken out again and there was mass looting in sympathy with our US cousins.

This is totally silly and promoted by Amazon and its like. As it happens, our internet and phone have been off for over 24 hours (radius of about 50 miles affecting, banks, health services etc.- modern-day France!) so we couldn't take advantage if we wished. This is pure marketing hype and the stores should pay for the policing.

It's not Amazon's fault since Black Friday has been around in America well before they started so they are just marketing their goods like other retailers over there. It has arisen over here because, increasingly, people buy things online and so stores over here have to try to compete price-wise with companies like Amazon, and it is simplest to call this sale the same name instead of inventing another term.

I watched the shoppers fighting over TV's etc in ASDA on tonight's news. It was uncontrolled mayhem.
