Rivoroxaban And Dental Extraction Any Experience Anyone- Confused Dentist
2 Answers
HI there I have been having quite bad toothache so on monday I went to the dentist, he had a look and said one of them needs to come out. However as I am on rivoroxaban blood thinner similar to warfarin to prevent a stroke as I have atrial fibrillation, he was not prepared to take it out there and then without a note from my doctor because he was worried about excessive bleeding, then he told me that there is a specialist clinic in my area for people who may have problems with excesive bleeding after extraction and they deal with anxious patients like myself. Then to totally confuse me he said that if it was a real emergency he would take it with a note from my doctor. So I phoned GP for a phone consult and he was not very nice about it saying this was up to the dentist and the dentist should keep up to date with latest developments with drugs and there may be a problem with excessive bleeding but it is up to the dentist to take that risk. He has given me a note to say just that. It is only a tooth out would I really have problems with bleeding afterwards and is anyone on here on rivoroxaban and had a tooth out?
