A neighbour told me that her husband has the first stages of alzheimers, but I have seen him driving lately, is this all right or should he stop, I followed him for several miles and he seemed to be doing ok.

There is no automatic prohibition - it's up to the doctors and/or the family, in consultation with the person with the illness, to come to a decision.

I've travelled happily in a car driven by someone with quite advanced Alzheimer's - it didn't affect his motor functions or reactions at all -he was quite safe.
By law he must have informed the DVLA of his diasnosis but it does not automatically mean he can no longer drive

Thank you, I was just a bit worried, but that's cleared that up for me.
My husbands driving was worrying us and we self referred for assessment. They did cognitive tests, reaction, problem solving. Driving in simulator and car. Conclusion stop. So he did. This was centre we used
