Date Nights?

Why?
My 50 odd yr old sil has just announced elsewhere that she's off on a 'date night' with my brother .
When did going out with your partner constitute it being called a bleedin 'date' night? Surely you date before you become a couple and/or get married not when you're in your fluffin 50's and have been married 30yrs !!
We just go out for a pint or a meal ...who really cares what we do or anyone else for that matter let alone posted with flippin pictures. It's not just her...it seems to have become a new tag word. I truly despair...
I am a romantic btw...just not a sharing one.
Seriously does my tits in...

That was the problem kylesmum we didn't have any.... we decided to force ourselves into it because we'd gone a whole year without a night out on our own and my son and his girlfriend plastering theirs all over Facebook... you do what you do to spend time with the one you love

Mr Boo and I have date nights.
It's a night where we make a conservative effort to dress nicely, have a nice meal and generally spend 'quality' time with each other. It's so easy to get bogged down with kids, work, bills and other mundane things that I feel it's nice to remember being a couple again. I fail to see what's wrong with it?
I also fail to see why you've got your knickers in such in irrational way about it too.

I think it originalted in US, something like quality time for parents to rejuvenate a relationship centred around the children, to make them chat about anything but the children at home. They go for a meal, maybe a sporting event and 'find' each other again .. that's what I make of it, as for regular folk, off down the pub or cafe is normal
B...I didn't get my knickers in a twist...I edited it myself for a joke...woosh :D
I've dressed up for a night out with my husband (in fact I always do as does he)...I just wanted to know when 50 odd yr olds who have adult kids who have left home decided that going out for a meal was a date night...bit immature :)

Ya think? I think it's nice, you're a long time dead ya know and they're only in their 50's! If that's what they enjoy doing, however they call it, let em get on with it. I'm 44 and I hope that when I'm in my 50's (and beyond) that i'm still having date nights :-)
