???? For Nuts

I am struggling for a phrase/saying that is of the form :

"...... for Nuts"

All I know is that it is just one word that is missing

(like, for instance, "Horses For Courses" or "Money for Jam")

I have no idea of the length of the missing word.

I have heard people say "brains for nuts" but I doubt that answer would be in a quiz

The Chambers Dictionary gives "not for nuts" as colloquial English for 'not very well' or 'incompetently'. Any use?

I have worked along that line, ladyalex, but it doess appear to be just a single word that is needed.

Not for Nuts is a possibility, buenchico - but not quite as 'colloquial' as the other answers I already have for the other phrases.

Brains for nuts does not seem to make any sense. Nuts for brains might. As ladyalex says, Can't do --- for nuts, or for toffee, is a common expression, but can't think of a single word answer.

I was thinking along the lines of paying peanuts and getting monkeys.

The other expression is, "If you pay peanuts you get monkeys", but that is obviously not correct here.

Mmmm... Could be, though one would normally say, "working for peanuts", rather than just nuts.
