Cystitis In Cats

Cats off to the vets this afternoon, Saturday night she was acting funny as in unsettled and then peed on the dog bed, then last night, she was just walking around crying them squatted in front of me, and then this morning she tried to wee on the work top, only very small amounts, she seems fine in herself apart from these 3 little episodes, she is neutered but as there are some unneutered toms in the street and a lot of fighting as it is mating season I think it has spooked her, I've tried her on wet wich she won't eat at all, I have put clean water Down in most rooms, what do vets give for cystitis.

Our cat gets this about twice a year. A £100 later the vet has given her an injection along with some tablets to take over the next few days. We see an almost instant improvement, but only until the next time. I keeps reoccurring !

I had that problem with my longhaired male, quite prevalent with them and trips to the vet got it sorted ....never cheap though !

The symptoms are very easy to read so you will know next time

I'm sure the dog will be glad it's sorted out too .does her tell the cat to catch itself on one minute your out next minute urine

It might be worth looking at a a change of food, I haven't got cats but understand that there can be a dietary element to cystitis

With dogs you can give them human grade cranberry tablets but not sure if you could get one down a cat!

Try the cat on a dry food free from cereals if it won't eat wet food.
We use Applaws and our cats haven't had any episodes since starting them on it 18 months ago.

By the way, Applaws has cranberry extract in it to help with UTI problems.

Just in case it isn't cystitis... do you live in a hard-water area? A friend of mine had a cat who was screaming on urinating and it turned out she had kidney-stones. Since then I filter all water my pets drink. Just a thought - and a hint to anyone in a hard-water area!
