It Started Off Well!

Lovely day in Eastbourne. Sun shining, went to the Redoubt fort, very interesting then to Beachy Head. Then on to Brighton to see the pavilion. Just getting there, stopped at traffic lights and the car wouldn't start. No matter what he did OH couldn't make it go. To make it worse he had only got the car on Monday, it's an automatic and he hasn't got the knowledge with this that he has with his other cars. Lots of cars hooting round us even though we had hazards on. Very kind man pushed us round the corner out of the way. I rang breakdown people, she took ages to find where we were even though I gave her two road names and the postcode ( obtained from delivery driver) she eventually found us, says someone will be with us between 1-1.5 hours.
OH fiddles with car, gets it going, I cancel breakdown, car stops again, I call breakdown again. Phone calls cost me £7.50. mechanic arrives. Puts us on back of truck and takes us to breakdown yard. They say cracked sensor in cam shaft
(I think), order part, says will be an hour. We go for a walk. When we get back they are still working on it. Eventually and £187 pounds later we set off for Brighton Pavilion. Well worth the wait, I have never seen anything like it, I was amazed. I just found it unbelievable that something like that was built in England.

Had a nice Chinese meal on the way back to the hotel. So all ends well.

Oh dear, never cancel a breakdown call out but all's well etc, I'm not a great fan of Brighton but do really like the Pavillion, there's a great cafe opposite the enteranc even to the Pavillion, well known for fantastic breakfasts and there are several outlets on the beach that make a lovely crab sandwich.

With regard to breakdown services unable to find locations, here's a conversation I once had with an AA operator:

AA op: Where are you?

Me: On Basing View, in Basingstoke.

AA op: Where did you say?

Me: Basing View, Basingstoke

AA op: Are you sure? I can't find it on my system?

Me: Yes. I'm standing next to a road sign with 'Basing View' on it.

AA op: That's odd. It's definitely not on my system. Is there any large building around there which might help our mechanic to find you?

Me: Yes. There's a really big building alongside me which I think he should be able to find.

AA op: What is it?

Me: The National headquarters of the AA ;-)

Chris that conversation you had was brilliant.
I gave her the name of the road we were on, the house number, the other road names at the crossroads, she hadn't a clue, still all ended well.

Did you not see the Wish Tower? it is another martello tower (not fort) but nicer. I love the Regency Pavilion, had a bedsit right opposite back in the day as they say, saw it every morning, haven't been inside for a few years, so may do it again this year. Did you take the coast route from Beach Head, through some lovely little villages, East Dean, and the lovely curvy Cuckmere river?
