Apple Watch - Laugh Out Loud Piece Of Junk?
24 Answers
I've been reading about the Apple Watch.
Is it possibly the most useless piece of technology ever made?
Apple's website gives it a battery life of 18 hours! So if I get the early train to London, by the time I'm looking for a late train home, I have to ask someone else for the time, because my hugely expensive watch no longer tells me the time?
Apple say the battery lasts 72 hours in "power reserve" mode ... ie as long as you don't use the watch. Marvellous. So the battery is good for three days ... as long as you don't use it. So ... why would you bother wearing it?
And it will do lots of the things that your iPhone will do ... except on a teeny weeny screen, so it's harder to see.
Are we all in agreement? This is quite the most useless piece of crap ever made?
The only appropriate response to the adverts for the Apple Watch is ... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ... aaaah haaaa haaaa haaaaa haaaaa haaaaaaaa ... waaaaah haaa haaa ha ha ha ha ha ha ...
(or am I wrong?)

Oh, yeah. Thanks, mamya.
I've just seen that its very, very accurate. To within a fraction of a millisecond. That's really useful. I wouldn't want to be a hundredth of a millisecond late for lunch for a friend. And these Brighton trains. They leave on the millisecond. If you're a thousandth of a second late, you have to wait for the next train.
Of course, they're slightly less accurate in the evening, when the battery has died.

For a really good laugh, just imagine spending $12000 on the rose gold version

My prediction is that this new Apple watch will go the same way as other failed Apple products :::::

Mine is cheaper SmartWatch with less Apps. It has the watch/phone + contacts/message/camera + vid/calculator/sat map/email/keyboard/hifi/pedometer/charger/2batteries @24hr each. Its compible to iphone & tablet but works standalone = £25.
Advantage is easy use while driving. Not easily snatched. Unbreakeable by dropping. Can find lost iphone/tablet. Bulky, not bling - less chance of mugging? Waterproof.

If you don't want one, don't buy one.

Most people do not spend 18 hours staring at their watch. Most people are near a charging point at some stage in 18 hours. The Apple watch is an accessory to the iPhone, so if it did run out, you can look at the time on your phone.
This is the first Generation Apple Watch. Battery life will improve, and battery mpower management will improve.

There are other smart watches on the market. You have a choice.

People are used to this concept. Your smart phone can go a week without charging, if you make few calls. If you make a lot of calls, you will need to charge it every day. People are used to battery electronics, and they understand the more you use comething with a battery, the quicker it loses its charge. You would wear it because it is an accessory to the iPhone.

It is for people who already have an iPhone. It does not work without it.
// And it will do lots of the things that your iPhone will do ... except on a teeny weeny screen, so it's harder to see. //
It is an accessory to the iPhone. The idea is that it is a quick glance device. If you get a call, text, email alert, you do not have to get your phone out of your pocket, bag, case to know who is contacting you, you just glance at your wrist. Then you can decide whether to answer or reply instantly, or do so at a time more convenient to you.

It is not for me, or you by the sounds of it, but many people will find it helpful and a worthwhile accessory.
