Gig Of The Week
11 Answers
Usual rules ... all nominations are welcome, my decision is final.
:o)
I made it to two gigs this week. Both at the Wigmore Hall.
I saw Miah Persson singing selections from Handel and Richard Strauss. That was the Radio3 live broadcast. If you listen to the repeat broadcast tomorrow, I was NOT one of the people who started to clap at the wrong moment, after the first song, causing a bit of a "face in hands" from the outside broadcast team.
I also went to see Alice Sara Ott playing some Beethoven, Bach, and Liszt.
Gig of the week? If only because Alice's performance of some pretty difficult Liszt Études was absolutely jaw dropping, I'm going to say it was the Alice Sara Ott gig. Also, we had quite a jolly meal out afterwards, which was a bonus.

Oh, the Goth thing. That always looks fantastic.
I think "gig" is a matter of size.
If a rock band play at Wembley, or the O2, that's a concert. If they play at the Camden Roundhouse, or the Brighton Green Door Store, it's a gig.
And if a classical performance is at The Barbican, or the Royal Festival Hall, it's a concert. If it's at the Wigmore Hall, it's a gig.

Wowsers ............ I was seriously thinking of putting that clip up here for you JJ. How spooky!
If there's any way of "wearing out" a Youtube clip, then I must have worn that one out by now. I watch it at least once a day :o)
That whole production (Salzburg 2009 - I think) is amazing. I am also totally in love with Isabel Leonard. I love her Dorabella......... as it were

It was the Salzburg production, Builder. It was indeed.
That was quite a production. It featured not just Miah and Isabel, but also the rather wonderful Patricia Petibon. Gaah, I want her hair so much!
All they needed was Elina Garanca and Anna Netrebko, and it would have been like a World Cup of contemporary sopranos (inc. mezzos)
