Our Saturday Telegraph (for the crosswords) cost 4.50 euros each Monday when it arrived - or not, depending........I'm nor sure on what. Poor M. Ranger used to look so apologetic and shrug helplessly when he couldn't passit on to me (it was ordered). The Monday Telegraph (needed for the clues for the Herculis) arrived on Tuesday and cost 3.50 euros.
Both papers were, by the way, incredibly slimmed-down. I once queried the delay (they were printed in Belgium) and pointed out that when I was on holiday in Cyprus I could buy the paper the same day it was issued by 2.00 p.m.. The shrug was accompanied by 'Cyprus is further away'. It was galling to know that at Poitiers railway station (45 mins. away) the paper could be had the same day!
We had a mad rush to get the crosswords done and posted on time! One of the tiny snags of living in France.
