Why Are My Dreams Always Bad Or Morbid......

The past few months I have been having horrible dreams, and a few about friends who have died in the past 2 years especially.

They are also about people who have been in my life the past few years, and last night I made a women pregnant who is married to a good friend of mine, so strange.

I wonder why my dreams are always, bad, unhappy, violent and not nice?

Anybody else have regular bad dreams?

stress perhaps? I tend to have bad dreams during times of extreme stress. maybe its a manifestation of our fears/worries/anxieties being played out in our subconscious?

what has changed in the last few months is the question here..

Yes trt I do. I have always had vivid dreams and can remember loads from throughout my life. I often get bad dreams too, I find it very disturbing that I dream of a partner probably twice a week who totally broke my heart always reliving that anguish. But I haven't seen him for 15 years and have no interest in him whatsoever in my waking life.
I thought vivid dreams that you remember was a sign of an active and bright mind :-)

As I understand it, sometimes dreams are a way for your brain to process and "deal with" thoughts and memories that remain unresolved...kind of a way of expressing feelings that you can't or won't express and acknowledge in real life and of playing out the "what ifs". Personally I can attest to this.
