Is There A Way Of Diverting A Phone To Another Number, But Only If A Particular Number Calls?
2 Answers
one of my relatives in law has dementia. My husband is the closest relative in distance and we get between 6-8 calls a day, some of them quite nasty, as is the way of people who are confused. Anyway, my hubs has 4 siblings who all live MUCH further away, we see or speak to his mum usually everyday, and my husband goes out in the mif=ddle of the night if she presses her alarm etc. His siblings don't seem to understand how utterly drained we both are and how much our own family life is suffering. as an example, she pressed the button 3 times today, and then wouldn't answet the phone, so he left work early to go over there to see if she was ok. I picked up our child from nursery, and he came home after she'd had tea and when there was about 10 minutes before bed time for her. after he's put her to bed, we then have to eat our tea, and started eating about 9 (about the first time we's spoken to each other today!)
We have asked for a "weekend off" this weekend, so that we can just catch up on some of our own stuff, but i'm not sure if help will be forthcoming. I would really like to divert the phone so that if she calls us at the weekend, it gets transferred to one of them, so they can see what it's actually like, Can you do that?

They can then deal with her over the phone and decide whether or not to call your husband if it's deemed necessary for someone to go round to see her.
It does two things, it lets the other siblings realise what it's been like for your husband regarding the amount and type of calls from her, and also means your husband is only contacted if/when needed.
Would that work?
