How Do I Keep The Curls Longer?

I sometimes use heated rollers to curl my hair and the result is lovely (even if I say so myself).
But by the end of the night, the curls have all dropped out.
Is there anything I can do to keep the style longer?
Apart from lashings of hairspray which I'm not keen on.

Eat the round crusts off the bread.

I find they last longer if you spray first with a heat protecting spray or one of the new seasalt sprays before rolling.

setting lotion may help .or a styling wax after the hair is dry .

Prudie, if I use a heat protection spray, will it matter that my hair will be slightly damp when I use the curlers? I thought hair had to be dry.

I don't think it will be damp enough to matter as long as you leave the rollers in for long enough. Setting lotion was the old-fashioned way to do it, I'm not sure if you can still get it.

Do you leave the rollers to cool completely? If you let the curl drop while its still warm, it will not last as long as it would if were cold.

If you don't have time to leave the rollers to become completely cold, ie 2-3 hours, then use a hairdryer on a cool setting to cool them down before you remove them.

Maydup, I usually leave them in about 20-25 minutes but the curlers feel cool by then.
Maybe I'll have to resort to hairspray!
