Tyre Repair Cost

Had a flat tyre yesterday GRR!

AA man changed it for me and said it had a nail in it and advised me to get it repaired rather than buy new as car is new and I've only done 2000 miles on the tyre.

Think this sounds a good idea but how much should I expect to pay? Don't want to be ripped off when they see a middle aged, disabled lady coming.

If you put your tyre size and post code in, then you will be able to see their prices. Last one we got was £96 that included everything and they come to the house and do it.

Expect to pay around £20 to £30 for a puncture repair at places like Kwik Fit, probably cheaper at independent tyre fitters, silliemillie.

No, for a new all season tyre. I would not be happy driving on a repaired tyre.

If the AA man said the tyre is repairable don't listen to anybody who says you need a new tyre, just walk away. Ask for a quote - cost should be £20 max.

I'm still driving on my repaired tyre. No problem at all

If the puncture is in the treaded area then a repair is no problem, if it's on the sidewall then the tyre is scrap.
In silliemillie's case she say's it's a nail so it's bound to be in the treaded area.

Thanks everyone, I'm not going to drive around on ithe repaired tyre as the spare that's now on it is a full size alloy wheel the same as the rest so was going to get the puncture repaired to put back and use as a spare.

It's not sensible to put the repaired tyre as spare rather than put it back on the car. Just suppose there is a problem with the repair - most unlikely but it can happen (there may be a problem with the new valve that they always fit or the tyre may not seal properly on the rim - I've had that happen with new tyres and you only find out a day or two later). When you next get a puncture and come to use the spare it's flat. Tyre have to be repaired in such a way that they are "as good as new". Put the repair back on the car and use it. In the unlikely event of there being a problem with it you still have a spare that you know is good.
