Local Honey
7 Answers
I have recently bought some local honey from someone near me that keeps bees. I've bought "local" before but from a different person & it was absolutely lovely. This honey is tasteless & doesn't even taste like honey st all. Just excessively sweet. What would be the cause of this? I'm disappointed as it definitely wasn't cheap. Any ideas?

A hive near a lot of scented flowers will have honey that tastes of those flowers. A hive near a lot of 'plain' or scent free flowers will have less taste. It also varies from year to year just as the grapes that make wine vary with the 'vintage' some years are good some are not so good.
I often have orange blossom honey, which has a citrus tang to it.
