Maths Assessment At Interview

I have an interview at a local housing authority working in leasing and rent income. I have to sit an maths test . I am unsure what the maths will be like, I have been told its based on the role.

What would you think the maths questions would be like for a role like this ? This is a non financial role working in rent account monitoring. I'm petrified of maths ! Thought i could prepare myself it.

I would imagine it would be just simple arithmetic.

Do you know if calculators are allowed? I'd agree with simple arithmetic, I'd expect percentages to be involved, maybe simple interest.

Yes, Im going to have to chase them about using calc'. I should prepare on interest and %

I would say 'account monitoring' would need maths . By 'nonfinancial' I assume it means you do not need accounting skills. I would think you need to be 'up to speed' in mental arithmetic, addition, subtraction, multiplication, simple division.

Probably simple finance, pecentages, geometry and algebra I'd suspect. What, is it NVQ type stuff ?

^^ That's just what I thought gingejbee . It's not a job I would be looking at if I was 'petrified of maths'

Yet you helped prisoners with literacy,despite having a very tenuous grasp on spelling etc yourself eddie! I think a lot of people who rub along quite well with maths would be scared to be tested under pressure.

Spelling has always been my weak point! I'd be lost without a spell check!

It will be basic maths....
didja say on your application you had O level Maths or A or equiv ?

they dont want to employ people who turn around and say
i cant multiply by ten
or I dont know what a percent is

the equiv I think if they have not specified it will be maths for level 1 accounting



they are doing it - not to stuff you but because so many people come out of skool unable to do the basic math sums

honestly they will be testing basic maff

if n=15 then what is 3n ? 18 or 45 or 3375 ?

I know I have done it
mine was paper based and after a page or so
and after about half I wrote " if you make me complete this paper I will shoot myself".
