We do the same as Allen.
This sounds like a red herring to me. I can't see how this would work in Britain. The link doesn't explain what "services" you are purported to have bought.

If you don't respond to any offer of any sale, then how will this then end up with you committing to buy anything ?

As usual the answer is in the Link.

HOW THE SCAM WORKS
1. You receive a phone call from a local number
2. The voice on the end introduces themselves and the company they supposedly work for
3. They then ask: “Can you hear me?”
4. Your answer is recorded
5. If you say “yes”, your response will be edited to make it seem as though you have agreed to a verbal contract for a major purchase
Is that even legally binding here?
not so far but many thanks for the info
Dee
I'd have put the phone down long before it got to asking me any questions.
Don't they need to know your bank details to get away with the scam?
The answer to this scam would seem to be to put the phone down as soon as the person says what his or her business is.
It wouldn't work anyway, as the 'seller' has to provide further information in a durable medium, such as in writing or by email under the Consumer Contracts Regulations which replaced the distance selling regulations in 2013.
Melv and Zacs have it right here !
Another tabloid stirring things it would seem. I do wish people would do a bit of research before posting utter rubbish.
Since we purchased a call blocking phone this type of call never gets through in the first place.
How would they prove it was your voice?
Sounds like 'botox' to me.
No, but the Victim of a vile lie by a vile witch.

Wrong thread TWR ??
Utter rubbish.
Even worse if it happens during a weather bomb or coincides with a royal death.

You see one tries to warn fellow ABers, but what does one get from the likes of this ABer, just abuse.

And for your information Zacs, this warning also went out on the radio.
