Women Who Pose Nude For "arty" Photos

I heard about this photographer who persuaded 110 women from his hometown Plymouth to pose nude for a forthcoming self-published book: https://www.photographybyjojo.org/ Apparently they're "arty" photos, though they don't look very arty to me...or particularly good. I do not understand why any women would let a middle-aged male photographer, who is also a stranger to them, into their home to picture them starkers in the name of art. Are people so desperate for attention, for what they may regard as a bit of immortality?

I don't "get" why anyone would want to pose naked for any of these blokes, including Tunick, but at least Tunick's photos do look arty and the majority of people in them you can, erm, barely, see

no problem unless you think nudity is somehow outrageous or repulsive. They don't seem remotely salacious or pornographic. Good luck to them.

If any woman I cared about agreed to do this, I'd advise them to insist on control of the images of them. I wouldn't want the photographer being able to do what he wanted with them. Even having them on his PC would be unacceptable to me, but I guess that's necessary for a photographer to work on his pictures

Some folk have exhibitionist tendencies, or can be persuaded to be so. Nothing wrong with it, nor anything to look down on. (Well I'd like to look down, up and across but that's another matter.) There is nothing wrong with the naked female form, and such pictures can be considered art. Although they do have additional attraction to, say, a rural scene, a vase of flowers, or a seascape.

I'd pose artfully if asked and have done in the past as a life model. I don't care who owns it. It's my body and I'm a grown up.

Some people seem to have problems understanding others who view things differently. It clearly doesn’t bother those involved so why should it bother anyone else?

Slightly off track, I thought Emma Watson’s reply to those who were knocking her for baring her breasts was interesting; they gave her stick because she is a spokesperson for feminism. She said that people misunderstand what feminism is supposed to be, and that it is about women having the choice to do what they want, which can be posing nude if that is what they want, and it certainly isn’t supposed to be a stick for some women to beat other women with.

What has being 'middle aged' got to do with it? Are you suggesting that the photographers age makes it more salacious?

I think it's a breath of fresh air.It's great to see women (and in 2019 men too) that are not carefully airbrushed and made up.They are in their own homes,describing why like their bodies/skin.After being bombarded in the media with gaunt,anorexic models,it's nice to see real people.What their motives are is none of our business,if they are happy with the results,that's all that matter.Nobody forces you to look at them.

They don't 'have' to, that's the whole point. They 'want' to.

Why would they want to? You don't need to get your kit off to prove that you have good self esteem (unless of course, your body issues have been exploited by someone)

I've no idea what the problem is. He's taken numerous photos of ordinary,local people...clothed and unclothed. No one was dragged kicking and screaming to pose for him. As he's been doing this for years...I know I heard of him 8-10 years ago...I'm sure his reputation is positive. People will have all sorts of reasons to pose...I'm sure it can be quite liberating to do so.
And prejudices about Plymouth being a "dump" should be left out of the discussion.
