You have to wonder who it was who complained. I'd lay money the majority of the black people see it for what it is. And let's remember Hattie McDaniel, who portrayed a slave called Mammie, became the first African-American woman to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role. So the film does mark progress for black people, something i suspect the baying complainers probably were not aware!
This sort of thing does nothing to bring harmony, if anything it will strengthen the resolve of the nutters.

We can't unpick what has gone before and if folk want to be protected they should hide under the kitchen table.
A classic from my childhood. Something may get starred out, let's see.
//In Anna Sewell's novel Black Beauty: The Autobiography of a Horse, the title character's first home was his place of birth. He was born on a farm and raised on a "large pleasant meadow." He notes that his first master, Farmer Grey, was very kind and lovingly called his mother Pet though her real name was Duchess; his first master also named him Darkie. //

The operators have neglected to advise why they feel the need to remove this film from their venue, but it does seem that arbitrary censorship flies directly in the face of its mission statement to 'entertain, educate and enlighten its local population' - a seriously large number of that local population is having its entertainment, education and enlightenment removed because of the bigotry of some of the rest of the population.
