I have used Persil Non Bio for a long time and been happy, but recently I've noticed that my cotton clothes are looking really grey. I always assume that man-made fibres (particularly nylon) will lose their whiteness, but cotton shouldn't. Can anyone suggest a good whitening detergent.

I use ariel jelly things and find them much better....changed over when I found that persil wasn't getting the stains out of my clothes
The secret is to have a predominantly grey wardrobe, then no one notices ;-)

Thanks everyone. I'm off to get the Vanish stuff.........
I use Ace bleach - all the whites come up a treat
I use Ace also, it's very good and cheaper, I just wonder, does the OP need to have their machine put on a vineger cycle or the like, could be the machine is getting a bit murky inside
It does irritate me that I spend money on washing powder and then have to spend more money on something to get the stains out or whiten things. Grrrr!

I can't use biological powder form my clothes but use it for other items. I find it pretty useless.
All you need to do is to select a washing powder that lists optical brightners amongst it's ingredients on the packaging. You won't notice the differeence during the first few washes, but it your laundry will appear whiter than normal after some washes. There is absolutely no need to spend more money on Vanish and the like.
The chances are that your current washing powder has either no optical brightners or a lower than normal amount.
